WORKING TOGETHER
Diversity is a source of abundance for humanity. Our community includes people of different cultural and social backgrounds. We all gain
wisdom through a variety of friends, coworkers, and acquaintances.
We embrace what we have in common and
celebrate our unique differences.
Power Comes to the Laguna Day Worker Center
Irma Ronses, jobs coordinator at the Laguna Beach Day Worker Center, and David Peck, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Crosscultural Council which oversees the site, were on hand on Monday for a celebration of the project bringing electricity from an SCE pole to the site office. Funded in part by a grant from the Weingart Foundation—and helped immensely by Rick Wahler of Trivest Builders, Oscar Martinez of Maximum Electric, and City staff--the electricity project will now allow Center staff to work more comfortably and effectively matching workers with contractors and homeowners for day jobs. Pictured with Ronses and Peck are some of the workers—Omar, Gil, Erick, Roberto, Charles, Francisco, and Beto--who were celebrating this event.
