Cinco de Mayo
The Crosscultural Council presented a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Laguna Beach Women’s Club to the delight of the many people who attended.
Along with a taco dinner, a balloon man for the children, and a raffle for free dinners at local restaurants, there were also Falda Folklorica dancers, and a singer serenading the crowd with Mexican love songs.
Falda Folklorica dancers: Maribel Van Horn, Margarita Hierro, Ruby Abarca, Priscila Carillo, Anel Anaya, Elvia Barranco and La Playa’s Childcare Coordinator, Teresa Dominguez.
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5th. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s extraordinary and heroic victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin.
